How to manage Assessments

MANAGING AN ASSESSMENT LEARNING ASSET

You can add an ‘Assessment’ into the Abara LMS so that it can be included in an eLearning course. Online assessment is a powerful method to test student understanding of subject content.

Here is what you need to do to manage an assessment Learning Asset.

  • On the left menu pane, select Courses > Manage Assessments-> Manage Assessments.

The Manage Assessments screen appears.

  • Click Add Assessment.

The Add Assessment screen appears.

Add Assessment

  • In the Assessment Name field, type the assessment name.
  • In the Thumbnail section, click Upload New to upload an assessment

Note: The assessment thumbnail will appear on the learner side. This is optional. If you don’t upload your own assessment thumbnail, then a default thumbnail will be displayed.

  • In the Assessment Description text box, type the description.
  • Click Add Assessment.

Note: You can edit, do assessment settings, assign questions, manage feedback, view courses in which this assessment has been added as a Learning Asset, launch the assessment, view the answer sheet of the assessment, view audit history, and delete the assessment by clicking on the related icons provided. You can also search for an assessment by typing its name in the Search field.

EDITTING AN ASSESSMENT

You can Enable analytics for the assessment to see question wise response from the users.

Note: If you enable analytics for the assessment, you will not be able to make any changes to the questions in the assessment. Also this is an irreversible decision.

SETTING UP AN ASSESSMENT

Here’s what you need to do to set up an assessment.

  • On the left menu pane, select Courses > Manage Assessments-> Manage Assessments.

  • Click the Settings icon in the Action

The Assessment Settings screen appears.

On this screen, you can specify:

  • The view options for an assessment to control how the assessment is shown to the learners
  • The attempt options for an assessment to control how the assessment can be attempted by the learners
  • The time options for an assessment to control the time allowed for the learners for attempting the assessment
  • The score options for an assessment to control how the score will be calculated for the assessment
  • The feedback options for an assessment to control how the assessment feedback is shown to the learners

MANAGING THE VIEW OPTIONS FOR AN ASSESSMENT

Here’s what you need to do to set view options for an assessment.

  • On the left menu pane, select Courses > Manage Assessments-> Manage Assessments.

The Manage Assessments screen appears.

  • Click the Settings icon in the Action

The Assessment Settings screen appears.

  • In the Page View block, specify the view options for an assessment to control how the assessment is shown to the learners—one question per page or group questions into one or more pages (clustering by page breaks).
  • In the Question View block, decide how to order questions—in sequence or randomly.
  • In the Answer View block, decide if you would like to show answers for each question in sequence or randomly (if allowed by question type).

MANAGING THE ATTEMPT OPTIONS FOR AN ASSESSMENT

Here’s what you need to do to set attempt options for an assessment.

  • On the left menu pane, select Courses > Manage Assessments-> Manage Assessments.

The Manage Assessments screen appears.

  • Click the Settings icon in the Action

The Attempt Options screen appears.

  • On this screen, specify the following attempt options for an assessment to control how the assessment can be attempted by the learners:
  • Answer all questions
  • Allow to edit answers
  • Allow backtracking
  • Allow to upload file for short answer questions
  • Allow to move across sections/questions if ‘Question’ order is set as ‘Random’
  • Allow attempts in multiple sessions

MANAGING THE TIME OPTIONS FOR AN ASSESSMENT

Here’s what you need to do to set time options for an assessment.

  • On the left menu pane, select Courses > Manage Assessments-> Manage Assessments.

The Manage Assessments screen appears.

  • Click the Settings icon in the Action

The Time Options screen appears.

  • On this screen, specify the time options for an assessment to control the time allowed for the learners for attempting the assessment.

MANAGING THE SCORE OPTIONS FOR AN ASSESSMENT

Here’s what you need to do to set score options for an assessment.

  • On the left menu pane, select Courses > Manage Assessments-> Manage Assessments.

The Manage Assessments screen appears.

  • Click the Settings icon in the Action

The Score Options screen appears.

  • On this screen, you can:
  • Specify the minimum passing score (in %)
  • Set a minimum passing score to the sections in the assessment
  • Set partial marking for match the following type questions
  • Set to show incorrect and no-response marking to the user
  • Set the score for each question in the assessment
  • Select the Score per difficulty level option to redistribute the score by a different amount based on the difficulty. You can assign a level of difficulty for each question by selecting the relevant item from the Difficulty Level drop-down list.

MANAGING THE FEEDBACK OPTIONS FOR AN ASSESSMENT

Here’s what you need to do to set feedback options for an assessment.

  • On the left menu pane, select Courses > Manage Assessments-> Manage Assessments.

The Manage Assessments screen appears.

  • Click the Settings icon in the Action

The Feedback Options screen appears.

  • On this screen, specify the feedback options for an assessment to control how the assessment feedback is shown to the learner.
  • In the Score Visualization section, select Show final score, Show section wise score, or Both.
  • In the Show, all the answers inserted by user section, decide whether to show all the answers submitted by the user or only if the assessment has been passed.
  • In the Show, correct answers section, decide whether to show the correct answers to the learner. If yes, then show the answers when the assessment has been passed or starting from the following date of assessment completion.
  • Select the Show question level feedback option to show question-level feedback.
  • Select the Show assessment level feedback option to show assessment-level feedback.

ASSIGNING QUESTIONS TO AN ASSESSMENT

Here’s what you need to do to assign questions to an assessment.

  • On the left menu pane, select Courses > Manage Assessments-> Manage Assessments.

  • Click the Assign Questions icon in the Action

The Assign Questions screen appears.

  • On this screen, click New Section to create sections per question types.

The Add Section screen appears.

  • In the Name field, type the section name.
  • In the Cutoff (in %) field, type the cutoff score (in %) if you have set minimum passing score to the sections in the assessment.
  • In the Time Limit (in seconds) field, type the time limit in seconds if time limit, section based is selected in assessment settings.
  • Click Add Section.
  • On the Assign Questions screen, select the respective section.
  • From the section/assessment drop-down menu, select Question Bank, Page Break, or Title.
  • If Question Bank is selected, choose from the available question banks and select the questions from the list.

  • Click Assign Questions.

MANAGING FEEDBACK FOR AN ASSESSMENT

Here’s what you need to do to manage feedback for an assessment.

You can set feedback to send a message to the users based on their scores.

  • On the left menu pane, select Courses > Manage Assessments-> Manage Assessments.

The Manage Assessments screen appears.

  • Click the Feedback Management icon in the Action

The Feedback Management screen appears.

  • In the Feedback Text field, type the feedback for a score range.
  • Enter the Final Score from and Final Score To
  • Click Add Feedback.
